Cradle to Cradle® Certified Products Standard
The Cradle to Cradle® Certified Products Standard is a sustainable certification system that evaluates the circularity of materials and products, essentially resulting in a waste-free ecosystem. Its goal is to encourage innovation and the design of products that effectively and positively affect people and the environment.
The Cradle to Cradle® certificate is the global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made. The sustainability label evaluates products across five categories of human and environmental health:
- Material health – analysis of impacts of materials on a chemical level
- Product circularity – assessment of the reuse or recycling potential
- Clean air & climate protection – quantifying the emissions associated with the energy and carbon reduction
- Water & soil stewardship – identifying local water issues and how to manage them
- Social fairness – related to human rights and the development of a positive impact strategy
Each of the categories is assessed and awarded one of the four levels: bronze, silver, gold or platinum.
The lowest score determines the final certification level.
